DR. VASIL HADJISTOYANOV-BERON ~ LIFE AND WORK

Author: Mihail Buchvarov

Biography

Vasil Hadjistoyanov-Beron (1824-1902) chiefly developed his ideological views during the National Revival period. He worked in the sphere of logic and natural sciences.

In his basic work “Logic” (Vienna, 1861) written in the spirit of Kant’s agnosticism he studied the laws and forms of human thinking. After a classification of the sciences, and classifying philosophy as the "love of wisdom", Vasil Beron devoted considerable attention to the problem of systems.

His views on systems are the most valuable part of his “Logic”. The author dealt with the problem of the part and the general and with possibilities of setting up a real and a logical system.

The views he put forward are still of some interest. Considerable part of his conjectures were written under the influence of the Russian logician, V. N. Kirov.
